Insure Your SpeechEasy to Protect Your Investment
Making the decision to purchase a SpeechEasy device is an important one. Making the decision to purchase secondary insurance can be just as important, especially if you want to provide the most protection for your investment.
The SpeechEasy manufacturer's warranty covers manufacturer defects. For example, if the internal chip goes bad or the receiver blows the warranty covers that type of damage. Essentially, if something goes wrong with the device and the user did not cause the problem, Janus will fix the device for up to a year at no charge.
Janus also offers an extended warranty plan that extends the manufacturer warranty by one or two years. However, the manufacturer's warranty does not cover loss, theft, accident or negligence that brings damage to the device.
Obtaining a secondary policy provides coverage for events such as stepping on a device, misplacing a device, water damage or pets destroying or ingesting the unit. It is also important to check your homeowner's policy to determine whether or not it will permit adding your device, or if it would require a separate policy.
If you do not have a homeowner's policy, or if your homeowner's policy does not provide coverage for your device, it is important to identify a separate carrier. For example, in North Carolina State Farm has been very consistent in providing coverage for the device, as has Esco. To learn more about your options, please contact your insurance provider.
